Summary of Role & Qualifications

The primary objective of the Patient Access Manager (PAM) is on achieving results aligned with the larger picture of the organization and across the revenue cycle.  Decision-making is focused on implementing practical, timely solutions. The job requires getting things done quickly and handling a variety of activities. The PAM will be accountable for managing a centralized team responsible for inbound calls and referral processing, and the support and extension of these individuals ultimately responsible for ensuring all financial and administrative tasks are completed prior to the service delivery.  Our clinics are located across the DFW metroplex (5), San Antonio (1), and Houston (2).  The applicant must be willing to travel, but will have flexibility in doing so, and work with leadership to determine the appropriate cadence and frequency.  The emphasis is on results, and effective systems that achieve results through and with people, rather than on the details of implementation. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the operations for the scheduling, pre-registration, verification, or authorization functionsin a hybrid of centralized and clinic-based teams.  
  • Applicant must be highly knowledgeable in the front-end areas of the revenue cycle, from patient intake through account resolution, heavily focused on patient satisfaction and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Develops and manages departmental staffing needs. 
  • Prepares monthly reports as requested.
  • Establishes departmental goals with associates to optimize performance and meet organizational while improving operations to increase customer satisfaction and meet financial goals of the organization.
  • Coordinates associate work schedules to provide adequate daily staffing coverage.
  • Collects, interprets, and communicates performance data using various tools and systems, while also using this data to make decisions on how to achieve performance goals.
  • Works with internal and external customers to make key decisions, impacting either the whole organization or an individual patient. 
  • Works closely with ancillary departments to establish and maintain positive relations to ensure revenue cycle goals are achieved.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5 plus years of progressive patient access experience
  • People Leadership
  • Licensing or Certifications for Patient Access Manager
  • Bachelor’s in Education, Business, Healthcare, Business/Administration, Accounting, Finance, Management, Healthcare Administration
  • Pre-service and point-of-service financial clearance activities
  • Medical terminology
  • Centralized Scheduling
  • Current and possible future policies development
  • Microsoft Office
  • All licenses must be maintained throughout employment.
