Treatment with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Bacteria (anaerobic) thrive in low-oxygen environments. Using a three-fold approach of HBO, surgical intervention, and antibiotics we are more likely to have a positive outcome to healing. Whereas left untreated, or only partially treated, osteomyelitis may return or possibly turn septic resulting in loss of limb or life.

Hyperbaric Oxygen is a strong bactericide and treats hypoxia (low oxygen), which is generally the main contributor to osteomyelitis and the surrounding necrotic tissue. It is delivered in daily treatments at depths of 2.0 – 2.45 ATA. Treatment times are approximately 90 minutes.
