Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, also known as HBOT, is a proven medical procedure that has been in use since 1936 when it was first used to treat deep-sea divers for decompression sickness or “the bends.” Today, HBOT is used to help heal a variety of injuries, wounds, and medical conditions by delivering pressurized 100% oxygen directly to the blood cells, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, bones, and lymph.

There are many benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This kind of treatment speeds the healing process, enhances the white blood cells’ ability to fight infections, and promotes the development of new capillaries, the tiny blood vessels that connect arteries to veins. HBOT also helps build new connective tissues and can improve organ function.

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY: WHAT TO EXPECT

As a patient at R3 Wound Care & Hyperbarics, you’ll receive HBOT in a private setting with the latest hyperbaric technology. Your treatment will take place in a clear acrylic chamber where you comfortably recline and can view your surroundings at all times. You’ll be able to hear and speak to your wound care specialist team, who will be monitoring you throughout the procedure.

Once you’re in the chamber, we will gradually increase the atmospheric pressure and oxygen level. The treatment is painless, although you may experience a sensation of pressure in your ears, very similar to the sensation you feel in an airplane while descending. During your treatment, which lasts about one and a half to two hours, you can sleep, watch TV, listen to music or just relax.

Each of our eight clinic locations has state-of-the-art equipment, skilled wound care specialists, and a comfortable atmosphere. We know how stressful and inconvenient it can be to receive treatments at a hospital, especially when you need a series of treatment sessions. At R3 Wound Care & Hyperbarics, our main function is wound care treatment, and we are independent of any hospital. You don’t even need a referral from a doctor in order to make an appointment or receive treatment.
