A severe physical crush injury caused by a crushing weight, severe blow, gunshot, car accident or industrial accident can result in “traumatic ischemia” or restricted blood supply to tissues and organs. This can lead to tissue death and severe infection.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) may be indicated for treating crush injuries. It delivers oxygen to the injured tissues, reduces swelling and provides an improved environment for healing and fighting infection.
